Under the domestic TSE Regulations, SRM which is vertebral column from over thirty month bovine carcasses must only be removed in a cutting plant which is authorised by the FSA for this activity. SRM which is spinal cord from older sheep or goats may be removed in a cutting plant which is authorised by the FSA for this activity, or in a slaughterhouse where no specific authorisation is required. The harvesting of bovine head meat must only be carried out in a cutting plant which is authorised by the FSA for this activity.

It is a dual strand piece of research involving a covert audit of businesses to look at rates of FHRS display, and a telephone survey to explore business attitudes and awareness towards the scheme. The data to be published is the individual country weighted data tables for the 2024 wave of the research.
